Old 97's an Epic Band

One of the best things about this band is that they pull out all the stops every show they play.
Another thing; they’re an epic band that hasn’t had the commercial success they deserve. That’s all good with me, better to see them in small venues and have my psychedelic, country, alt rock mind blown, each and every time I see the Old 97′s live.
Thank you to Marie Popichak for the awesome video of a recent live show in NYC.

Bess Rogers Rocks

Whenever I tell anyone about Bess and her music, I always have to finish up with...Bess Rogers Rocks...and so she does. She rocks on guitar; and she rocks whist playing and singing lovely back up harmonies in Ingrid Michaelson's band.
As a solo artist she writes smart, witty songs that make me wanna dance. Her live shows are unpretentious and by the end of her first song the audience knows that Bess is there to have a good time. Give a listen to Bess, surely she'll make you smile, after all, Bess Rogers rocks.

Jersey Shore Music Update

The Nerds rock all kinds of popular music... a GaGa cover is inevitable. They play earnest covers of favorite tunes while managing to put their own spin on things.

Love New Artists

I had the pleasure of seeing (hearing) Greg Holden open for Ingrid Michaelson and her band extraordinaire. As an opening act he was able to immediately engage the audience with his tunes and with his soft spoken, witty, charming banter. His songs are lovely compositions that linger on and though all original, the tunes seem familiar. They're easy to listen and sing along to. Check Greg Holden out!

Kate McGarrigle

Kate McGarrigleKate McGarrigle via last.fm

Thirty years ago I listened to the Mcgarrigle Sisters sing pure harmonies and original tunes that were fascinating. Then Linda Ronstadt recorded Anna Mcgarrigle's Heart Like A Wheel, and Loudon Wainwright III married Kate, and the rest is Wikipedia history. Listening to the harmonies of the two sisters and Kate's two children on this classic song raises goosebumps on my arms. Donovan's Greatest Hits album coverImage via Wikipedia

it was either Melanie at Carnegie Hall or Donovan at MSG; my first concert experiences.
I will always love the singer songwriter.
